Description
Targeted Genetics is conducting preclinical studies designed to evaluate the utility of AAV-based delivery of a number of genes involved in lipid metabolism in animal models of lipid disorders.  This includes AAV-based delivery of the gene encoding the very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) receptor.  Increasing the levels of specific proteins involved in lipid metabolism may help to improve lipid profiles in patients with a variety of lipid disorders, such as high cholesterol.
